A new baby, and a whole family gathered to welcome him. A brit is a day of big feelings in a small space — the grandparents meeting their grandson, the parents’ nervous smiles, the blessings, the tears and the laughter that follow, and finally everyone crowding around for a first look. I photograph it quietly and with care: the tiny details, the tenderness, the moment he is handed back to his mother. Years from now, these are the pictures he will grow up with.
